Guest Book Alternative

Wedding Tree

Instead of having a traditional guest book, I have been considering having an alternative... a wedding tree! I don't remember how I came across this idea, but it was while Googling "Fall Wedding". The process is to have a large canvas with a tree and the bride and groom's names on it. However, the catch is that the tree doesn't have any leaves. Rather than providing signatures on a page, guests "leaf" their thumbprint on the tree by using the ink provided. They can also sign next to their thumbprint if they choose. I fell in love with this idea immediately, because the tree can be framed and hung within the home. To me, this seems wonderful compared to a guestbook that would simply gather dust in storage. I was hesitant because some might view this alternative as "stupid". Based on the entire casual environment of my wedding and the setting being fall... I think this guestbook alternative really fits.

Wet wipes and test pages are provided, so guests don't have ink-stained thumbs the entire night. Also, the ink pads can correspond with the wedding's colors. I whipped up and example of what our tree might look like before being leafed by our guests. I haven't decided if I want to print this out on a canvas, or try to draw something similar by hand. There are kits available on Etsy, but most of them require you to print the image they create... I can do that part! The ones who actually frame it and everything are a bit too pricey for my taste. This is meant to be a simple and crafty alternative to the guest book, not an expensive endeavor. =)

Hairstyle Inspirations

I have begun gathering images for inspiration for my wedding. While I want wedding to be simple and overall hassle free, I still want to put thought into it and make it reflect Chadd and my tastes. Besides all of that, I love making lists and doing these things is half

The first image was one that caught my attention when I began thinking about hairstyles for the wedding. I like how loose the style is combined with the two side braids. The only concern I have with this style is the length of my own hair. Plus I currently have fringe bangs, so that combined with the braids may be a bit too busy.

I recently ran across the second hairstyle while I was searching for styles to wear circlets with. I have a somewhat romantic view of wedding hairstyles, and circlets definitely seem to fit the bill. I would love to incorporate some kind of similar jewelry into my wedding. My current bangs can also easily be pushed to the side, like in the image, if I decide to do that. However, I think the fringe bangs would look good with this simplistic hairstyle as well.

The reason this image is here should be pretty obvious by this point... fringe bangs!! I like the hair accessory, but I'm not sold on how something similar would look with my dress.

Main Considerations for my Hairstyle:
  • Must look good with fringe/side-swept bangs
  • Must hold up well during an outside wedding (don't want it getting too big!)
  • Possibly include some kind of hair accessory (like in the provided pics)
  • I really want the overall feel of my outdoor wedding to be romantic, country, with a hint of whimsical. Is that so much to ask?

Hair Accessories I Love
Circlets & Headbands

I fell in love with this circlet when I first became engaged. It combines the fall colors of my wedding perfectly (purple, orange-russet colors, and neutral browns). The creator Thyme2dream is a complete genius and I love her work! I can guarantee that I will end up getting something from her store for my wedding. The only issue I have with this particular circlet is that I do not know how it would look as a headband, should I decide to go that route. However, I really think it would pull my entire look together.

The second option that this store offers is a traditional headband style that would work... but I just am not in love with it as much as the first circlet. I may end up contacting the creator to find out if she could create the first in a more traditional headband style. I will definitely update you about the changes if so!

No matter which route I go, I will probably get this hair comb as well. It allows me a back-up plan, or I can have my maid of honor wear it to help pull the look together. Speaking of which, I might get all of my bridesmaids a gift from this site!

Some additional sites that provide good options for circlets are:
All of these sites, and others, provide wonderful designs and products. However, I feel the images displayed really fit the feel that I want to bring to my weddings and my personality. Most importantly, they are a little more reasonable priced. Cheap yet unique!!
